Biography

Zagreb, Croatia (2007 – present)

Moraines is a four-piece “instru-metal” outfit from Zagreb, Croatia formed in spring of 2007 by petar pečur (Mazüt, ex-S.O.M.) and Domagoj Šekelja (ex-Ares). Drafts for first songs were created in the following months but the band was “paused” until midwinter when Miro Ćosić (Cojones) and Nikola Pogačar (ex-talason) joined the group. 2008 saw two croatian gigs supporting The Ocean during their Eastern European tour, as well as recording of four-track debut EP named “The perfect pantheon of absence” in July and self-releasing it later in the year. 2009 started with a couple of gigs with Emphasis, talason and Kadet and somewhere in May the band unfortunately went on hiatus after Miro decided to leave the group due to ongoing musical incompatibilities. In the winter of the same year Mario Mlakar (Things Fall Apart, Elias) quickly took hold of drumming and marked a new, more creative and overall better era for the band. 2010 and 2011 were marked by extensive work on new, somewhat altered musical ideas, and a dozen of gigs where the new material was further crafted and tested in live environment. Unfortunate events with a number of rehearsal spaces greatly delayed our plans of releasing a new record, and this was even more emphasized when Nikola had to move back to his home town. Early in 2012 Goran Rusmir, who played bass with Mario in Elias, jumped in and brought much-needed enthusiasm to the band.
