Moose, a British group formed in 1990, released several gauzy records through the decade. While often tagged as a shoegazer band, and certainly their earliest singles were, they evolved into something distinctly their own- a woozy, lush and orchestral brand of pop.

They started with three eps on Hut Records, later released together as Sonny and Sam (the shoegaziest of their records, if you will). After a shakeup in the lineup, Moose found the making of what would ultimately be their sound with the release of …XYZ. While receiving positive press, the band did not enjoy the commercial success of bands mining relatively similar ground at the time such as Ride, Chapterhouse, and the Pale Saints.

They shifted to Play It Again Sam for the release of Honeybee (considered by many to be the consummate Moose album) and Live a Little, Love a Lot. While not noted here, Moose also released several singles along the way- like the albums, their positive press did not translate to sales and/or notoriety.

After a brief hiatus, Moose resurfaced with a well-received ep on Saltwater Records in the US. This was followed by the lp High Ball Me, their most recent to date, released by the U.K. label Nickel and Dimes (and co-released in North America via Saltwater and Le Grand Magistry).
