Monsters of Folk originally came together in 2004 and toured as Bright Eyes, with Jim James and M. Ward, and developed the name Monsters of Folk while on tour. The band released their self-titled debut album on September 22, 2009 on Shangri-La Music.

Beatnik24 Love the band members separate projects. madly in love with "Dear God." But man this album is such a snoozer, I bought it last year and tried giving it some more listens, thought maybe it'd grow on me... nope. Just reminds me of why I don't like country- it sounds too much like it- bland and uninspiring. :(
