Monster Movie is a United Kingdom dream pop band formed by Christian Savill, years after the dissolution of the shoegazing band Slowdive, for whom he played guitar. Monster Movie also features Sean Hewson. Sean and Christian used to play together in the shoegaze band Eternal, who recorded one single for the Sarah Records label in the early ’90s.
Monster Movie have released four albums to date - two each for the Clairecords and Graveface labels: Last Night Something Happened, To The Moon, Transistor (a mini-album), and All Lost. Rachel Goldstar, from Experimental Aircraft (a band who hails from Austin Texas) and Eau Claire (her duo with Kranky Records artist Jessica bailiff), joined the duo on vocals for Transistor and All Lost. Monster Movie also released several EPs, including their self-titled debut from 2001, and a split EP with Graveface artists Dreamend. Monster Movie have just completed their fourth full length album titled Everyone Is A Ghost, which is scheduled for release in early 2010 on Graveface Records.
Monster Movie also happens to be the title of Can’s Debut album in 1969, from which they got their inspiration.
