Everything that keeps me together is falling apart
I've got this thing that I consider my only art of fucking people over
My boss just quit the job says he's goin' out to find blind
Spots and he'll do it

"Your heart felt good. It was dripping pitch and made of wood. And your hands and knees. Felt cold and wet on the grass to me..." Maybe the most beautiful line Isaac has ever written

Monday September 17th, 2001. I was at the Modest Mouse show at Nita's Hideaway in Tempe. As many of the venue's larger shows were, this took place outside - directly under the paths of flights arriving at PHX Sky Harbor. This was the first or second day of resumed flights, so seeing planes in the sky at all somehow seemed weird. They opened the show with "3rd Planet" - a bit touching in and of itself, right? But what made this the most memorable and meaningful 4 minutes I ever witnessed at a show was the video backdrop. Unsure whether we were supposed to/allowed to feel joy, the video loop showed images of the Towers (and other buildings) coming down only played in reverse so that it appeared everything was being built back up triumphantly. I'm not sure there was a dry eye in the place. The applause after that song must have lasted 5 minutes. It was amazing and I'll never forget it. Ever.

Your heart felt good! Even in such a lyrically dense song that one line always sticks out for Isaac's delivery. Warms me up every time I hear it, that even a fucked up weirdo like him has felt something so pure. Fills my fucked up weirdo heart with hope! Fantastic opener for a fantastic album
