MJQ were great. So was Django. Nothing like it now, is there? So nostalgic looking back. I am still in this groove. No wonder it is difficult to relate to what is going on now. Bring back simple, eloquent, harmonious, melodic and swinging jazz played by the gentlemen in suits as smart was the rule.

i just redicovered Jango R. cant say enough about PC's. i have a VSP-Verve 33 with the original John Lewis/Gunther Schuller 55' recording of "Jango"...it's much more of a lament, somehow like NewOrleans funeral march.at that time they were the "The Modern Jazz Ensemble", also the tempo is in half time.the musicians on this are simply a gas, the likes of JJJonson, Tony Scott, PERCY HEATH, CONNIE KAY Stan Getz,,MILT is not in this one, instead the vibes were done on harp by J.Putnam.as i recall this was the begining of my love affair with MJQ,, i have loved jazz in my mothers womb.",thank you Mom", she was a lovely accomplished pianist/organist.
