  • Best New Music - April 2008

    3 May 2008, 08:24 by BaggyBrad

A sixty minute mixtape of quality new music from 2008.

Cut CopyOut There on the Ice
In Ghost Colours is champagne quality contemporary disco. Its polished synths and smooth, bubbly bass pour sweetly from speakers to the listener, eager to share the feelings of love and happiness that so obviously possesses the band during its recording. Out There on the Ice is a beautiful, keyboard powered track designed for late nights and packed dancefloors, as opposed to some of the more traditional, band driven tracks on the record. It was also one of Ben Cousin's favourite songs. Yeah, listen to those lyrics sometime.

    ZeigeistBunny
Before The Knife's 2006 smash Silent Shout received it's much hyped reception bootlegs were already floating on the internet with a fake bonus track. This was actually produced by a lesser known Swedish synth-pop group Zeigeist. Still, while being more obscure, there has been much anticipation for the finally forthcoming debut album The Jade Hotel which pulses…

  • Era, E.S. Posthumus and Moby's New Albums!

    1 Apr 2008, 17:30 by Richardgm

Oh yes, my #5 most played artist Era (2,934), #8 E.S. Posthumus (1954), and Moby, who now sits at #23 with 802 plays have all released new album recently, and I got a hold of them.

Firstly, I was ecstatic to learn (via E.S Posthumus' page on last.fm of course) that they released a new album (Cartographer) months ago! So I quickly downloaded, and got listening. First impressions? First CD with that lady singing is very unlike the E.S. I loved. Second CD was more like it, but to date only 4 songs I consider good. They are Oraanu Pi, Mosane Pi, Isunova Pi, and Raptamei Pi.

Fyi, E.S made it to my #1 spot for the week ending Mar 30, with 136 plays.

Era's album Reborn is slated for release soon is again another New Age album I think has too much pop influences. Previous Era works (Era and Era 2) were a great mix of dance, and Gregorian vocals, this release is more pop with a smaller dose of the above mentioned. The few favourites are Sinfoni deo, Reborn, Come Into My World, and finally Last Song.

  • Review: Moby - Last Night (from out-of-space.ch)

    14 Mar 2008, 10:04 by thegrid

Man merkt schon, dass er ein Kind der 90er Jahre ist, denn auch auf dem neuesten Werk "Last Night" des Ur-Ur-Grossneffen von Herman Melville (Moby Dick) Klingt die Musik von Richard Melville Hall a.k.a. Moby teilweise nach Love Parade und Rave-Hallen. Schon 2002 rappte Eminem in seinem Song "Without Me" polemisierend die Zeile "You don't know me, you're too old let go its over, nobody listens to techno" und warf Moby vor, veraltet und überholt zu sein. Aber stimmt denn das? Kocht Moby einfach die alten Hymnen wieder hoch?

Nun, dieses mal tut er dies scheinbar gewollt, denn auf seiner Website moby.com ist zu lesen:

"Last Night" is basically a love letter to dance music in new york city. What i love about the New York approach to dance music is the eclecticism and the open minded-ness on the part of the musicians, the dj's, and the people in the bars and clubs. In making 'Last Night' i essentially tried to take a long 8 hour night out in new york…
  • Moby's Last Night

    28 Jan 2008, 18:07 by antigrafo

Moby will release his sixth studio album Last Night on 31st march 2008. The expectative is growing and our favourite US american (perhaps just him and Susan Sontag) have promised the most ecclectic album of all:

"i essentially tried to take a long 8 hour night out in new york city and condense it into a 65 minute long album."

El nuevo album de Moby está por salir a la venta el proximo 31 de marzo. Las expectativas crecen y nuestro gringo favorito (tal vez el único, con excepción de Susan Sontag) ha prometido el album más ecléctico de su carrera:

"i essentially tried to take a long 8 hour night out in new york city and condense it into a 65 minute long album."

Mientras tanto, esperemos con el video que está transmitiéndose por lastfm: Alice Moby Alice
