This is the 'Coffee Blues', I likes a certain brand
Maxwell's House, it's good till the last drop
Just like it says on the can, I used to have a girl
Cookin' a good Maxwell House, she moved away

[Not to be confused with the English actor John Hurt, from "Alien" and other films. This is the American John Hurt, the wizard of the blues. This is more than a "spoonful" of great stuff here.] Thankyou, I had thought they were the same person.

The actor is "Derbyshire" John Hurt. He's GOT the blues, but he doesn't play them. (He IS a white man, after all. LOL) As for this song by his Mississippi namesake, it's what the group The Loving Spoonful named themselves after.

Charley Patton does the original (I’m sure there is even a more obscure, older version somewhere) Spoonful. Patton’s was about Cocaine though and a bit more violent.
