Growing up Miss Quincy heard music in bubbling creeks, the wind whistling through narrow valleys and the crackling of the northern lights. She learned from a young age that any campfire was improved by a good story. Influenced by her Grandparents whose toe tappin’ tunes kept the North two steppin’ to renditions of Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson, her grandfather taught her early on that a cowboy’s life is indeed the most poetic life. Miss Quincy listened to every country tape in her parent’s truck until she could sing along with the likes of Ian Tyson and The Judds.
By her early teens it was evident that singing was her passion, but it took years of classical music lessons to take the country twang from her voice. In college she studied classical voice and then performance arts - neither of which were a perfect match. It wasn’t until Miss Quincy sat down and wrote her first cowboy song that she realized what had been missing in her music. It was the story, writing and singing about what she knew. Accompanied by her guitar, Miss Quincy started collecting and recording stories as she travelled around the globe in her early 20’s. When she finally decided to settle down in Nelson BC, the band Miss Quincy and the Ramblers was formed –mixing sweet harmonies, roots music and good old fashioned story telling. Traveling with the Ramblers gave Miss Quincy’s country twang a home once again.
