As many people have said... who knows what the hell happened with OMNI. It was ridiculous, and this is much better, but still not near Planet of Ice or Menos El Oso. “Heaven is a Ghost Town” is a pretty killer song though.
MTB's first 4 albums (including Omni) were albums where each song, with both its music and lyrics, painted a picture of emotion and atmosphere. Infinity Overhead seems to nearly completely lack these qualities, other than "Lies & Eyes." The songs have more "normal" sounding guitar parts and the lyrics are just not up to their former quality, leaving the album to sound simply like a collection of songs about nothing in particular. Its still a decent album, but is by far my least favourite.
it's okay. it's another minus the bear album. very good, not great, more of the same. A few standout tracks, like "Heaven is a Ghost Town", but it's no Menos El Oso. it's gonna be overshadowed by other recently released albums, and that's a shame. love them. maybe it will get better on repeat listens, like "Neck of the Woods" by Silversun Pickups
