15 Dec 2009, 07:46 by 182GDGreen Day - The band that took me out of my Hilary Duff and Aaron Carter phase of my childhood. I heard their Dookie album and fell in love at my preteen years. I then proceeded to fall in love with BIllie Joe, mercilessly hate his wife Adrienne, then realize I was an idiot. I've grown disappointed in their most recent music, as well as American Idiot. They are pushing 40 though, perhaps they should call it all quits.
blink-182 - The second band that pulled my further out of my pop phase. Awesome band I will always love. My second love (right behind Billie) was Mark Hoppus. I obsessively listened to his podcasts and dedicated pages to him. Unlike with Billie, I didn't hate his wife. I grew out of that as well. I'm happy to hear the band is back together.
Mindless Self Indulgence - A band I heard about on a Green Day forum. All I heard was Bitches and thought not much of it. In the past 2 years, I've collected a ton of their music and of course, as usual, fell in love with the lead singer, Jimmy Urine. …

Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.(You must post Artist & Song, spelling doesn't matter And taking a guess is always welcomed)

Nope. I mean, I liked bits of it? But if I wanted vaguely South Asian dance music, I'd listen to bhangra, which is awesome. And it's a little like hearing Lily Allen emcee over vaguely world-music club beats, which is odd and not my thing. I hear she is all the rage, but Sunshowers, Bamboo Banga, and Come Around were the only tracks I'll listen to again, and even Come Around made me realize, yet again, that I desperately need to learn to use audio editing software so I can take out the awful bits of songs I otherwise like - it would have been a much better song without Timbaland.
Mindless Self Indulgence - You'll Rebel To Anything
Favorite on this album is Shut Me Up, followed by Straight to Video, What Do They Know, 2 Hookers and an Eightball, Prom, Bullshit, 1989...hmmm, it would be shorter to list the tracks I didn't like. I can't wait to see them in concert, really I can't. One might wonder how I can bitch about homophobia and misogyny in the lyrics of other musicians…

The support band for this concert was Templeton Pek, who were of a decent standard; their songs were very stereotypical of the hardcore genre in terms of structure - but for an up-and-coming independent band, they were certainly more than passable.
But, the main event - Mindless Self Indulgence. Starting off with one of seemingly everyone's favorites, Shut Me Up to get the place absolutely insane, following on through a 20 song setlist with light-hearted banter in between, they definitely held their own. Perhaps one of the best moments was when they played the typical MSI track Faggotand got a girl out of the crowd (who was dressed in pajamas) to sing the song with them, showing an excellent commitment to the fans which isn't often seen. Other songs were Bitches,Straight to Video, Revenge, What Do They Know?, Eveningwear, Capitol P, 1989...there's too many to even begin to remember.
