Biography

MindFrost started out in 2008 as a mere side project. Guitarist Pim and singer Naomi decided to play some music together, since their own bands either disbanded or were moving on a slow pace. After a while, they realized there was definitely some chemistry going on, and decided to take things more seriously.

Armed with a fancy twenty-year old computer and a lot of ideas, they took off. During the songwriting process, they both agreed that this 'side-project' was growing into something much bigger, and they called in some extra help. Guitarist Ming and bassist Kai enthusiastically joined the club. In a small room in Purmerend, the group spent a lot of time writing and recording their first songs, and drank a lot of coffee while doing it!

Although they did grow quite found of their drum-computer, its lack of personality took its toll: the computer was happily replaced with drummer Servet in December 2008. The band was finally ready to start playing shows and spread their music to the world!

Still, something was evidently lacking during rehearsals: to capture the full sound of their recordings, the group decided they needed a backing-vocalist, preferably one that was able to play keys as well. In early 2009, they invited Rose-Anne to rehearse with them and to play their first show. This proved to be a major move: Rose-Anne was definitely the missing piece, and all parties decided to continue with the current line-up: Mindfrost was born!

With the band members having completely different musical backgrounds (ranging from metal to progressive rock and pop), Mindfrost's sound is best described as a nice mixture of rock, a bit of a bite and a heavy dose of melody. It's hard to put a label on it, you could call it anything, but they just call it MindFrost.
