that's not milestones!

And it is. there are two Miles Davis compositions titled Milestones. The earlier one is a be-bop tune recorded by Charlie Parker with Miles and Max Roach. Later, there is a better known 'modal masterpiece' of the same title.

It appears that this is a live version and not the one found on the original 1958 album "Milestones"

There's a quote from Miles' autobiography that goes like so: "Back in bebop, everybody used to play real fast. But I didn't ever like playing a bunch of scales and shit. I always tried to play the most important notes in the chord, to break it up. I used to hear all them musicians playing all them scales and notes and never nothing you could remember." His playing on this song exemplifies that approach and, to me, demonstrates why it's so effective.

love this piece :-) however I am curious as to why a live version is being passed off as a track from the Milestones (1958) album, when the recordings were all done in a studio. :k
