With guitar as the instrument of choice and songwriting his craft, McCarthy has walked an independent musical path.

Born in Sydney, Australia, Mike was introduced to music at an early stage in his life. His dad, a drummer and, sometimes, band promoter introduced him to a wide range of music and more importantly to the ‘live’ music scene.
He formed a band at the age of eight with friends Peter and Tim Harding called ‘Junction’. They later became Compos Mentis.

Presently, Mike McCarthy tours in support of his latest album ‘The Harrowing Account of John William Tate’ and also plays roles with ‘Birdlife’, ‘Sons of Korah’ and the ‘M Carney Trio’. He has also written, and continues to write, music for film.
