Mike & The Mechanics are an English rock/pop supergroup formed in 1985 as a side project of Mike Rutherford, one of the founding members of the band Genesis. The initial line-up for the band was Rutherford on bass, vocalists Paul Carrack and Paul Young, keyboardist Adrian Lee and drummer Peter Van Hooke. If you go to the band's webpage, the first thing you see is a banner that says, "Mike + The Mechanics", not "Mike & The Mechanics", and every blog entry on the home page labels them, "Mike + The Mechanics". If I were an objective observer, I'd say that the band's name is "Mike + The Mechanics", not "Mike & The Mechanics".
