Known for intense multimedia performances as well as subtle, varied recordings, Seattle’s Midday Veil draws from an ever-deepening well of influences including improvisation, psych, folk, krautrock, drone, noise, new age, and a broad range of non-western and traditional music.

The band began in 2008 as the duo of David Golightly (synths) and Emily Pothast (vocals, etc.) The current lineup also includes Timm Mason (Mood Organ) on lead baritone guitar, Jayson Kochan on bass, Chris Pollina on drums and Samuel Yoder on percussion.

“Midday Veil consistently produces some of the best experimental psychedelic music I’ve ever heard, always bending genres and minds at the same time.” - Hammer Smashed Sound.

Great, great, stuff! I love the way they combine '70s psych/kraut sounds with '80s Tangerine Dream/John Carpenter-style synth. Lots of bands doing either or, but not too many creating something new from these elements. Only other band I can think of is Ga'an, and they lean in a more prog/zeuhl direction. Worth checking out if you like this band. The kind of ritual folk sections in some of MIdday Veil's songs are great, too.
