Michael Schopper (born 28 May 1942) is a German singer (bass baritone).

Michael Schopper went on the Regensburg Cathedral Choir school to school and studied as a scholar of the Foundation of the German people, church music and singing at the Academy of Music and Theater in Munich. Winning the first prize at the ARD Competition in 1976 was the beginning of an international career as concert and opera singer. While he was in his early career years, especially in the central parts of his art (including Osmin, ox of Lerchenau, Hans Sachs, Daland, Wotan) was the major European opera houses, his repertoire focus shifted in recent years more and more towards song and oratorio . Plays the historically informed performance practice for Schopper an essential role. He worked with such conductors as Leonard Bernstein, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Gustav Leonhardt, Philippe Herreweghe, René Jacobs, Ton Koopman, Bruno Maderna, Fritz Reiner, Karl Richter.

From his work in countless CD and radio recordings bear witness to all the major record labels. Schopper was professor of singing at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich and the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main.
