VASIL HADŽIMANOV BAND is a collective formed in 1997 in Belgrade, Serbia. The mastermind behind it is Vasil Hadžimanov - a Berklee scholar and a piano & keyboard player who fuses various aspects of Balkan folk music(s) and jazz fusion, with heavy emphasis on percussion and keyboard tapestries.
RTB BIG BAND was formed in 1948 and immediately started gaining international reputation. In 1960 they won the 1st prize at Juan-Les Pins Jazz Festival.. Tonny Scott: “I've said it before and I'll say it again The Belgrade orchestra I heard there, cuts every band I've ever heard in States except Basie. If you don’t believe ask Quincy.”
Korni Grupa was an ex-Yugoslavian pop / rock / progressive rock band formed in Belgrade, Serbia, in the summer of 1968, by keyboardist and songwriter Kornelije Kovač (ex- Indexi).
The other founding members were: bassist Bojan Hreljac (ex- Elipse), guitarist Velibor Borko Kacl (ex-Zlatni Dečaci) and drummer Velimir Furduj (ex- Elipse).
Miodrag Miki Petkovski was born in Skopje, Macedonia in 1951.
He is classically trained musician, pianist and celloist. He played keyboards on Smak's acclaimed album Crna Dama in 1977. He left the group in 1978 and recorded solo album Ko zna in 1979 in jazz rock style.
Writing, composing and arranging for bigbands is for Bora Rokovic the ideal occuoation. Born 1925 in Yugoslavia. And although his music studies in Belgrade forced him to follow a classical route, jazz was in fact the be-all and end-all for him. he came to Germany in 1954, where Kurt Edelhagen engaged him as arranger in 1957.
