  • Metallica in Köln

So., 17. Mai. – Metallica, Machine Head, The Sword

    Lucky Star light, star bright
The first star I see tonight,
    I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish I wish tonight.
    King Nothing's every knight
    Has right to fight.

    I've Told Every Little Star
that my heart is full of tar
    I use Akbil
    I don't have a car
But my house is not far
    Don't be shy

  • So what's the story on the Load period?

    19 May 2008, 01:17 by clockworkcookie

Some 12 years ago, back in the day when I was an angry and crazy tomboy girl with a growing crush on music slightly more exciting and heavy than the boys bands stuff I had known 'till then - my parents gave me for a birthday gift, my very first CD: Metallica's Load. I consider that moment my "awakening" to serious music.
Eventually, Metallica became my single favourite band, and remained as such for a long time, until I stumbled upon 70s punk rock, The Clash, nu-metal, Rammstein, and other passions and adventures in the music world... Even then - even now - they always had that special place as the first nº1s.

Growing older alongside the supposed "declining period" of the band, it was something of a mystery to me how the minds of the old-school fans worked. For me, possibly as a result of discovering them all within a short time frame, every Metallica album had its charms; even though Master of Puppets quickly became my favorite (it still is), and Metallica the one that least impressed me…
  • My opinion of the top artists by listeners.

    1 May 2008, 20:16 by bowdowntomono

Ok, this is MY opinion of the top artists over the whole of last.fm by listener number for 01/05/08. I'm not saying this is true. I'm only doing it as something to avoid doing work...

    1. Radiohead - 99,720
Well, I don't think they are good enough to be the most listened band in the world (ok, last.fm). Sure, they've started off a lot of the music I like, and they're inventive, but there is such a thing as being too experimental. The new album is both experimental and boring for the most part. However, both The Bends and OK Computer are very good albums, and Just is a masterpiece. Overall, their older stuff is far superior, because it's more normal.

    2. The Beatles - 91,688
Shoot me if you want, but I think The Beatles are distinctly average. It sounds so generic and not very exciting at all to me. I know that at the time, it wasn't either of those things, because rock music hadn't really got going, but that doesn't stop me from disliking it. …

    10000th Track: Mayonaise

    Where the Music is Going:

1.) The Smashing Pumpkins - Probably going to be staying in the top 5, that is for sure. I tried to lay off listening to too much of these guys so my charts weren't ridiculously skewed, but I caved in.

I figured it would be appropriate to make my 10000th track my favorite song from one of my favorite artists, so I naturally went with Mayonaise. Very emotional and powerful song.

The reunion should be quite interesting. Obviously, Billy Corgan is the most important feature to the sound of this band.

D’Arcy had a very important role in the personality of the band, and apparently had a very keen ear for what sounded good and what didn't. However, I doubt she would return to the pumpkins. Assuming she has recovered from her crack addiction, I think it would be very difficult to return to a part of her life which has ostensibly caused her a great deal of trouble. From what I understand…
  • The Best of the Best: My List of Spine-Tingling Tracks

    18 Apr 2006, 01:16 by flamedragon

Alright, well I know I have done this plenty of times... but I am in an extrordinarily good mood today... I want to list the best of the best from the CD's I own. By best of the best, I mean the feeling that the particular song gives me, the energy of the song, that "goosebumps / headbanging / omfg i just shit my pants because this song is so goddamn awesome / feeling". Alright, I may have just scared you, but whatever, I will proceed to list some songs. If you wanna hear these, I don't have any problems sending some I guess. I generally use AIM to share between friends, but I have webspace and such, hah...

    My Ruin
I fucking love this song, it is so catchy. I don't care for the vocals really, it's just the feeling I get 30 seconds into the song when the guitar starts... it's so awesome. I think the first time I heard the song, I had the demo on repeat for a few hours. At about 2:15 it gets really good, the melody kicks in some more and a solo begins.
