About this album

ReLoad is the seventh album by American heavy metal band Metallica, released November 18, 1997. The album is a direct sequel or counterpart to the band’s previous album, Load. Drummer Lars Ulrich stated that: “it’s the second half of Load. It’s just coming out a year-and-a-half later.” To date, the album has sold over 4 million copies in the US, and is certified Gold in the UK, having sold over 100,000 copies.

The original idea was to make Metallica’s seventh album, a double album. But with problems recording so many songs at one time, the band decided that half of the songs were to be released, and the band would continue to work on the remaining songs and release them the following year.

This album is not that bad, but the frontcover is disgusting...

I believe this record has more solid moments than Load. For some reason I think ReLoad has more "guts" than the previous record.

This album plus Load, Metallica and St. Anger shows Metallica had more ambition than most and more balls than most. Plus Slither is probably the most underrated song ever.

I think you can make a solid argument that this is their best record. I think Metallica had a much brighter future if they had focused on that fusion of blues, classic and hard rock that they seemed to be pushing on load and reload. It was a fit. My first Metallica album and my favorite.

I think I'm not a close-minded metalhead, but seriously on load n' reload, they're not awesome riffs and fucking awesome songs, like the albums before load. This is my opinion.

This is a great album. Sure, it isn't thrash, but there are some really great songs here regardless.

I think they tried to please everyone and pleased few. There's a few gems here as always though, such as Unforgiven II, The Memory Remains (just skip the outro) and Fixxxer.

Very boring album. "Kill 'Em All" is much better. [4]
