i am a bit disappointed. "we've run out of ideas for genevieve's clean singing parts, let us add some minutes of random noise. you can't go wrong with that."

  • AshessehsA

Looooooooooove the new release. Menace Ruine is just about my favorite music... absolutely beautiful. Genevieve is a goddess.

love the new record, intense music

  • z0z0bra

its like their music is dissolving more and more with each record and i have to give them credit for each time modifying their sound to create something different. my personal favorite is still cult of ruins, nonetheless all the stuff they put out is unlike anything else out there, and i think thats what makes this one of the most interesting bands ATM for me.

Finding out how under-used Genevieve's talent is on the new one was very depressing :(

The new album is alright. I thought Nothing Above Or Below interesting but the rest of the album doesn't surpass anything on The Die is Cast, in my opinion.

Genevieve's vocal arrangements make 'Union of Irreconcilables' - bring on the vinyl!

You got the cd already? Aaaaaah, can't wait to receive mine.

  • krumbledkookie

New album is amazing. Everything I hoped it would be, and then some. "Challenging" is putting it lightly - this is a creative landmark in the history of metal, if you ask me. They have crossed over from band whose music I love to a band whose music instantly qualifies as an intense spiritual experience.

  • stian86

Just heard the new song, guess I'm a bit late. I prefer the demo and The Die is Cast over Cult of Ruins, so I'm glad they're continuing in the same vein. I'm also glad that the vocals are a tiny bit more prevalent. Really looking forward to the album.

I should have said 'least abrasive' rather than challenging, though their latter material sure is a step up, mostly.

One of my favorite bands these days. Seriously excellent music.

  • Smirnon

that's quite subjective but that again is obvious. haven't listened to the new track. won't do so until the rest of the album is available either. listening to single tracks from this band is a waste of time.

    April 2010
  • Agravenlife

Well, it's the least challenging listen of their discography, therefore their most accessible. Still love it though.

    March 2010
  • Agravenlife

z0z0bra: In Vulva Infernum is probably their most accessible album, though. I loved the clean psychedelic vocals on that release in particular, hope they'll do more like it.

  • metaljelle

I'm hoping they will put out "In Vulva Infernum" on cd sometime. It's a great listening-experience.

  • z0z0bra

i could not agree more with that. this band does not need an "easy listening" album (in some sense The Die Is Cast already was a very accessible record), although from the new track i would assume they went further into that direction. its not necessarily a bad thing of course, but some more experimentation would keep the whole thing more interesting. well, im going to love the new stuff anyways, so whatever... by the way they should play some shows in europe.

  • krumbledkookie

I've a feeling the new album will not be something that any of us are prepared for... in all honesty, I don't think I'd mind if it weren't as "catchy." Menace Ruine's music has a quality to it that doesn't force it to rely on catchy-ness to communicate what it's trying to get across.

    March 2010
  • Vastarien

New track is great, but a little less catchy... Either way, can't wait til the new album comes out. @zozobra: you've realised that similarity waaay late! hehe.

the die is cast at times truly frightens me. the emotions are so horrible and ill.

i like the new track. not really outstanding, but good. very martial industrial sounding, the moon lay hidden beneath a cloud anyone?

I agree with John, songs like This Place of Power could go on for more than ten minutes, but they have it at less than three. What a waste...

Lovely music. I'm really amazed by them.

  • EternalDawn

My god The Die Is Cast is amazing. Best drone record I have. It just grabs you for 45 minutes and lets you go and you feel like you had an amazing trip and wants more. I really want a new album, no matter in what style it is cause Cult of Ruins and the demo are great too.

    January 2010
  • JohnLithium

@The_Red_Agent...it has a little bit, but mostly towards the end. It's still a good album, although it seemed sadly somewhat underdeveloped overall (which is a shame, because the best songs are the ones that seem to end abruptly).

    January 2010
  • Agravenlife

Faak, I want to see them live.

    January 2010
  • The_Red_Agent

OMG Cult of Ruins is so fantastic. Does "The Die is Cast" completely forgo the black metal aspect? The fact that they throw some black metal "ferocity" in it is one of the reasons I love it. I'd be sad if The Die is Cast didn't even have a little bit. Like, even an occasional blast beat would be alright I guess, lol.
