Melvin Van Peebles/Quasimoto refers to the product of Stones Throw records member emcee and producer Madlib/Quasimoto.

Melvin “Block” Van Peebles (born August 21, 1932) is an American actor, director, screenwriter, playwright, novelist and composer.

Peebles is featuerd on Brer Soul Meets Quasimoto and The Invasion Remix, both released under Madlib. He is also heavily sampled in his The Further Adventures of Lord Quas, released under Quasi.

Madlib borrows a jazzy style from Peebles for rhythms and beats, and includes some frequent vocal samples. It’s a strange contrast, but lord quas is not a conventional emcee by any means. This project fits right at home with his offbeat perspective on hip-hop.
