  • Top Songs 2014

    12 Mar 2015, 19:54 by Volontarian

To get top lists I created an open source tool by myself: http://volontari.at/users/18/library/music/years_in_review/2014/top_tracks

A how to demo video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlXJoYn_dek

The tool first initializes the top album and top song lists by the most played albums and songs released in the year of the review.
You can add more items to the list e.g. through a list of items released in this year.
Then you can just sort the list items by drag & drop or use the recommended feature "Sort through round robin tournament ".

This feature initializes a round-robin tournament between all list items, what results in many matches. That's why I come up with the idea that the winner of a match can sometimes be appointed automatically, what reduces the matches to vote dramatically.
So the winner of the match automatically beats the competitors which have been defeated by the loser of the match and furthermore the defeaters of the match winner also beat the match loser automatically.

  • Best (and worst) of metal 2015

    Cain's Offering - Stormcrow
This collaboration between Timo Kotipelto from Stratovarius and Jani Liimatainen formerly of Sonata Arctica has hit me like a fucking rocket to the face. I didn't have high expectations, looking forward to a run-of-the-mill album with two-three good songs and a lot of filler material. Stormcrow is the other way around - there might be two-three filler tracks. If even that. From the epic opening over the innovative Best of Times, the speed demon I Will Build You a Rome, and the grand Antemortem to the very end this albums shines in all the coulours of a glowing, polished power metal rainbow. It might packed with clichés, but there's much more to it than what you've heard a million times before. This is what Sonata Arctica was and ceased to be. This is what Stratovarius haven't done in years - or decades. I give it 10/10, not because it's the best album ever, it isn't, but because I find it hard to believe that another album will pass this on my 2015 list come December. …

    Megaherz - Zombieland

In het begin hoorde hun werk eerder in het zogenaamde Dark Alternative Metal genre thuis, zoals bijvoorbeeld Faith No More.

  • Questions about my top 50

    9 Jul 2013, 11:20 by Mjoellnir155

    Questions about my top 50.

    1. What's your favorite song by 15?
    Das Ich
    Von der Armut

    2. How did you get into 20?
    Megaherz

    3. Who is your favorite member in 1?
    :Wumpscut:
LOL, sehr geile Frage! Oma Thule natürlich.

    4. What’s your favourite lyric bit by 29?
    Suicide Commando
Äh, die haben Lyrik? Ja dann inetwa sowas:
    Nie wieder trennst du dich
Nie wieder lass ich dich gehen
    Nie wieder hasst du mich
Nie wieder lässt du mich stehen
    Dein Herz, meine Gier
Ab jetzt gehörst du nur mir

    5. Have you ever seen 22 live?
    Blutengel

Sa., 29. Dez. – Dark End Festival

A few hours before the admission, the first band Roterfeld announced that they were not performing at Dark End Festival due to some controversy between them and the organization team. Again, a heated debate started on their facebook fanpages. I don't want to prejudging anyone without knowing the facts, but it was a pity that they played the whole show and don't need to waste a single word on it.

Unzucht started this one-day festival technically strong. The singing part wasn't as good, but they put up a good fight as the first act. Secondly, Lord of the Lost entered the stage, missing their second drummer who stayed sick at home. But also with one man less, they confirmed my impressions of the first shows and improved from event to event, technically and with their stage presence. The crowed noticed the same, the spirits were running high. After about one hour, it was time for Megaherz. I have to say that I'm not a fan of the new front man and the new, clumsy songs. …

    1. Grindcore|Death Metal

    Aeon - Aeons Black

    2. Melodic Death Metal

Be'lakor - Of Breath and Bone
