Five Magics (6:01)

"Five Magics" was inspired by the 1980 fantasy novel "Master of the Five Magics" by Lyndon Hardy, although the five magics listed in the song's lyrics a bit differ to those in the book. The five magics in the book are listed as Alchemy, Sorcery, Wizardry, Thaumaturgy and Magic. The song also refers to a Magic ritual and some storyline described in the book.
This is the only Megadeth song that's truly fantasy-oriented.

  • sick shit man
  • I maintain this is one of the funnest, most hellacious riffs to play on the guitar, looking at it from afar you don't think it's too strenuous to throw down on the fretboard but damn does it become a challenge and a half. Mustaine is a serious player on that geetahr, utter innovator on pushing the sane boundaries, nothing sounds like that guy over the course of a song.
  • The song description has been utterly wrong for 5 years. How could no one notice this? Five Magics is about Five Magics book!
  • Honestly, I didn't really like this song at the beginning. But by now it's one of my favourites by Megadeth. Especially the middle part. GIVE ME ACLHEMY, GIVE ME SORCERY, GIVE ME WIZARDRY, THERMATOLOGY, ELECTRICITY, MASTER ALL OF THESE, MAGIC IF YOU PLEASE, BRING HIM TO HIS KNEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
