About this album

So Far, So Good… So What! is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Megadeth, recorded 1987 and released in January 1988 through Capitol Records; a remixed and remastered edition including several bonus tracks was reissued in August 2004. It is the band’s only album recorded with drummer Chuck Behler and guitarist Jeff Young, both of whom were fired immediately after the subsequent tour. So Far, So Good… So What! features music performed at very fast tempos with technical proficiency; lyrically, Mustaine addressed variety of topics, including nuclear holocaust and freedom of speech.

The record was well received among contemporary music critics, although retrospective analysis has been less favorable. It managed to enter the top 30 on the Billboard 200 with no commercial radio play; it also charted in several other countries as well. The album was eventually certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and indicated Megadeth’s forthcoming emergence from the underground thrash scene.

The best Megadeth album in my opinion. I'm just listening to an original vinyl pressing and it's made me realize just how awful the remaster is, track down a vinyl copy or an original CD pressing if you can.

Maybe my favourite Megadeth album... "In My Darkest Hour", "Mary Jane", "Set the World Afire" are great songs. "Anarchy in the U.K." is weak, but it's only a cover of weak band.

Wish the track listing for this and a few other Megadeth albums were correct instead of having that Digital Remaster stuff added.

Besides "Holy Wars" and "Hangar 18", "Liar" and "Hook In Mouth" are the two best back to back tracks on a Megadeth record.
