Meco (born Domenico Monardo on November 29, 1939 in Johnsonburg, Pennsylvania, USA) is a record producer and musician. He is perhaps best known for his 1977 disco version of the Star Wars theme from his album Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk; both the single and album were certified platinum in the U.S. This song is popularly misattributed to “Weird Al” Yankovic on various file sharing networks. Other disco hits include “Themes from The Wizard of Oz: Over the Rainbow/We’re Off to See the Wizard” (1978), “Star Trek Medley” (1979), “Love Theme from Superman” (1979).

    Would love to see his old stuff like Encounters of Every Kind reissued on CD. I used to play that album to death as a child... It was so funky and a bit weird.

    I finally found the Best Of Meco on CD. I have owned the Star Wars and Other Galactic Funk on vinyl for a long time and before that as a cassette.. This tune has been with me for 30 years and I still love it so much!

    It feels weird to be the 1st one writing here.... But I have been looking for a Meco song for many years and can't find it. It's the medley Patricia & Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White from the Master of Swing album. Anybody knows where can I get it?
