Mea Culpa

Mea Culpa is a trance artist.

“Recent feature stars Denim & Leather hit the nail on the head (or rather plunged it ruthlessly through with a clawhammer, splintering the cranium): most metal music is boring. One could easily discount it as a dead-end genre pursued by too many bands, plodding the same endlessly recycled formulaic terrain with the mobility of a limbless, heavily pregnant walrus flailing around on its back in a pool of pea soup carrying about as much tonal grace as the ungodly braying of said beast. As with anything, subtle variations on its turgid themes often require the keenest of ears to identify, but its worth it, because thats how you discover bands like Mea Culpa.”

ben chappell - guitar
will turner-duffin - samples/ebow
james cooke - vocals
tom “hasselhoff” flint - bass
dave “rotter” roy - drums.

Mea Culpa was also the name of a short lived Screamo band from the Baltimore, Md area, akin to I Have Dreams.

  • Throne777 should really think of some way of separating out band pages that share the same name. For one, it makes the 'Similar Artists' links utterly pointless, as similar bands to the post metal act Mea Culpa should be showing ISIS, Cult of Luna, Mouth of the Architect, etc.

Someone should sort this out into 2 separate bands. UK Mea Culpa are great.

NaiveAmoeba, we must be listening to completely different mea culpas here. The one the first four samples are of (they put you in a mask) are DEFINITELY not the mea culpa that did first to ripen (which is an amazing album, got it today :D). No, the british Mea Culpa are much more interesting, kinda atmospheric isis-ish soundscapey hardcore mixed with weird electronics and stuff.

Hardcore? Screamo!? Similar to poison the well and the bled? It's just like really bad punk mixed with really bad covers of old at the drive-in.
