Maureen Tucker, born August 26, 1944 in New York, is mainly known for having been the drummer of The Velvet Underground, giving them a unique, monotonous sound. She played often up-standing and turned the bass drum so that it was lying on its open side, creating a more dull sound while beating it.
On some songs she was the singer as well, like on her solo and other band projects. Her broken and also monotonous voice stays uncomparable.

It's really sad the Maureen is so completely overlooked and under appreciated. I'm almost sure there'd more then a paltry 2,278 listeners of her music had she been male like Lou and John or had died like Nico- even with the 3,228 on the Moe Tucker page her listeners come no where close to Lou's 1,068,214 or Nico's 414,038.
