Mauran Jensen : Music-wise, I can’t really be categorized into a particular style, and I have trouble knowing the difference. I just write whatever comes out and sounds good to me, and is fun to sing. It’s not that I’ve been influenced by different kinds of music and it all comes together in all of my music, but that one song sounds completely different from the next. I think this is because I view my songs as I do people. They are all unique and should be treated as an individual. People have different stories and definitely different styles, and since many of my songs are drawn from the stories and experiences of people around me, somehow it seems cruel to try and squeeze a whaling rock song into a country ballad (and vice versa). I’ve been told this view is great as a writer but terrible as an artist, because record stores don’t know what section to put your album in, but I guess I’ll deal with that when its time to make an album:) For now, I guess I’m still “finding myself” musically. Me-wise, I love God, music and people, and I do my best to smush them together for everyone’s benefit. The sun makes me sneeze. I am obsessed with candles and Gerber Daisies. I am a licensed manicurist. I went to public school. And private school. AND homeschool… I was born in the city, and raised in the woods. I go to school in Boston, but live by the beach. I appreciate silence, and being “alone.
