Matze is Cristian Stanciu, a pioneer in romanian electronic music.
Matze means "gutz" (a jumbled up equivalent)
The matze project was born at radio Nova 22 in 1992, with Cristian Stanciu and Lucian Stan (DJ Vasile). They later formed NSK.
Matze's first song, made on a Sunday night in September 1992 is called "Respira adanc" ("Breathe deeply"). Devices that were used: two Revox tape recorders, a simple organ with Casio presets, two pick-ups, one mixer, beat only two samples and a microphone. Song words were found on the spot and percussion piece was piped in by editing the tape.
Another remarkable Matze product (Stanciu & Stan), was the song dedicated to "King" beggars in Obor, killed in 1992. That song is called "beggars" and was made solely on an electronic organ toy.
Then followed two well constructed albums, albums that have circulated throughout the underground system, perhaps because of the hit songs "E foame" ("hungry") and "E foame iar" ("hungry again"), songs that included samples, sequences of the poverty of post-December of Mr. Iliescu .
1997 "Ultima Gaina a Europei"
2002 "Prima Gaina Cosmonaut"
Cri Stanciu began to participate in various musical projects, like "Aievea". In 2005, he resumed work at the radio show "Free Zone" show broadcast on Radio Guerrilla Bucharest.
"I try to outfit electronicly social and political topics that usually make you change the channel, to combine electronic and experimental pure Romanian folklore …"

Whether it's experimental, cross cultural fusion, electronica garnished with various global or universal themes and ideas… or just plain weird ass …yeah!

Matze advocate sound exploitation by humans.
