About this album

7 tracks (49:00)
Mastodon’s fourth studio album, Crack The Skye, is a conceptual piece in the same vein as the band’s previous releases. It mines subject matter from czarist Russia and astral travel to out-of-body experiences and Stephen Hawking’s theories on wormholes for an unrepentantly heavy aural assault that will shake the heavens. Released March 24, 2009 through Reprise Records.

I've rekindled my love for this album. Well actually I've been listening to The Czar about 95% of the time, but I'll catch up with the rest of the album eventually.

A few nice bits, but mostly messy indie sludge.

Haven't listened to Crack The Skye for FAR too long. As a result, I will have to learn again how excellent this album is, from the very beginning, because not listening to it regularly made me have lost the ability to understand its ultimate perfection, which it glows with every single second it is played. If that means listening to it for a few times a day, I am fully eager to take this epic challenge.
