Massive Töne are a hip-hop band from Stuttgart Germany, that was formed in 1991 and became popular in 1998 with their album “Überfall”.
The four founding members, Showi (Jean-Christoph Ritter), Ju (João dos Santos), Wasi (Wasi Ntuanoglu) and DJ 5ter Ton (“DJ Fifth Note”, Alexander Scheffel) all originated in Stuttgart’s hip hop scene and modeled themselves at first on the American and French hip hop groups like Breakdance Soundtracks, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy and Ultramagnetics, before they finally found their own style.

kopfnicker war damals der absolute burner...es gab einfach wenig was zu der zeit so ein niveau an den tag legte... sogar aus heutiger sicht ist es noch mehr als konkurrenzfähig um nicht zu sagen top... überfall war noch ganz gut, da man das gefühl hatte die entwickeln sich gerade weiter... unterschied war ein echt minimalistischer und trotzdem fetter beat.... dazu rapgame mit derbem feature (blahzay blahzay ist einfach hammer)... ab da ging es ab wie mit culch candela... pubertäts-texte und eine musikalische ansammlung von oberflächlichkeiten für bravo-fans

Wie schon erwähnt, "Dichter in Stuttgart" und "Kopfnicker" war noch groß. Da waren sie noch bei MZEE unter Vertrag. Dann der Wechsel und "Überfall" hatte schon seine Schwächen. Aber spätestens nach dem Weggang von Wasi sind sie endgültig zur Bravo Boy Group verfallen. Schade eigentlich.
