I just transferred my old vinyl copy of The Mason Williams Phonograph Record to MP3. I wish I'd done this years ago. My God! He's a musical genius!

Do you ever wonder how this got arbitrarily attributed to Eric Clapton in the first place? I did not even know what the song was called until I finally found an instrumental rock compilation with it, so that was when I learned Mason Williams' name.

Wow I always thought Clapton made this, sad that Williams never gets recognised for it.

He has a lot of great stuff out there. His books are really good too, but they're all out of print, just like most of his albums. I got most of his major albums on vinyl.

There's better stuff on Phonograph Record than "Classical Gas." Too bad the album isn't on "All the Time" is a great, spiteful breakup song.

His chart reminds me of MC Hammer's, but Classical Gas is pretty awesome.

Speaking of the Music 1968-1971 CD release, I found it under NEW AGE (!!) at Barnes & Noble. I'd classify it as Pop, seen/heard on The Smothers Brothers Show. Now, if Handmade would be rereleased some day...
