First off, I must say that I was greatly impressed by both performances, although I am greatly biased by the fact that Mason Jennings is one of my favorite artists ever. However, John Clarke (not the one profiled on last.fm) was amazing. He had a strong, clear voice and a great tone. His songs were well-written and in general, he was an interesting person. I bought his demo CD and have listened to it at least five times since.
There are not enough good things that can be said about Mason Jennings. He is a talented musician and songwriter and he is so passionate. Of course, this was easily seen in his performance on Sunday, especially since I was in the first row!!! It was a solo acoustic performance; just him, his guitar, and his harmonica (sometimes).
His set list included songs from:
Mason Jennings--> Nothing, California, Big Sur, and Darkness Between the Fireflies
Birds Flying Away-->Ballad for My One True Love
