Mason is the name of several very different musical projects.

1. Dutch DJ and producer Mason had a huge club hit with “Exceeder” in the Netherlands in 2006. The track was supported by all kinds of DJs from Fatboy Slim to Eric Prydz, and from Sharam Jey to Pete Tong, who made the track the Essential Tune at BBC Radio 1. A debut album is scheduled for spring 2007. He performs all over the world, integrating his electric violin during his energetic dj-sets. Mason was born in Amsterdam as Iason Chronis, son of a Dutch actress and a Greek sculptor. www.myspace.com/musicofmason

2. Mason is a post-hardcore band from West Palm Beach, Florida. Their debut album, “Just Shake Hands” was released in March of 2005, and their first full-length, “You Were Supposed To Be Beautiful” in October of the same year. You can hear them on their MySpace at www.myspace.com/wearemason or on their official website, www.wearemason.com

3. Mason was a US late sixties psychedelic rock group. Formed in Virgina in 1969, this power-trio shared the same stomping grounds as Short Cross in the Richmond-Norfolk-Virginia Beach area. Their only eponymous heavy rock album has now become a minor collectable. With strong vocals and lots of excellent instrumentation it’s easy to see why. One track, Golden Sails, sounds uncannily like Jethro Tull, but all eight cuts are originals, six of them Jim Galyon compositions, the other two co-written with Steve Arcese. A must for heavy rock fans but worth a twirl for most collectors. They lasted until the mid-70s and their legacy has been secured with the CD on Gear Fab.
