Masafumi Takada (高田雅史) is the composer for the infamous videogame production studio, Grasshopper Manufacture.

He was first widely renowned for his work on the eccentric Capcom published title, Killer7. The music was a technical mix of emotions, terror, and revelations that fit the mood of the game shockingly well. About sixty tracks were created for each key part of the game. The double-disc soundtrack is only available in Japan, and can be imported.

His next work was Samurai Champloo, which recreated the bizarre style of the anime, added a splash of Killer 7 cool and layer upon layer of stark, original sounds and beats.

Mr. Takada has also provided the music for the Clover-developed, Capcom-published, “GOD HAND”. The soundtrack, “GOD TRACKS!” is available with the purchase of the Japanese version of the game.

He has since gone on to do several tracks for Super Smash Brothers: Brawl, as well as the soundtrack for Grasshopper Manufacture’s latest creation, No More Heroes.

Quite good indeed. But not his best yet. Still hoping he join forces with Suda again.

So far I've got 321 plays of Masafumi Takada in my LastFM library, and at least 50 of them were from today. His music is just great beyond words. :) Such a mind blowing mix, and it fits the mood of each game that it's in quite well.

And yeah, I miss him in the NMH 2 soundtrack too. Jun Fukuda is great and all, but Takada san created the vibe for the game in the original so it's feels '' off '' with those darkside tracks.

I was hoping to see him and Akira together in the new Suda game but he moved to Shinji Mikami's team. Oh well, maybe some day in a dream team collaboration

When I look at the picture of Masafumi Takada trying to look all pimp with a completed Rubik's cube, I imagine him beforehand pulling out all the stickers and rearranging them so that it looks complete. Love his music, though!

I noticed his absence in NMH2 just by hearing the music. It pissed me off at first, because the difference is really strong. At least the Dark Side tracks were there (though Kill or Be Killed Mix is used a bit too much in the first half of the game), and the Margaret boss song is great. Kill or be killed mix, or Margaret's Reaper song would have to be this game's "Rave On" or "Pleather for Breakfast" and this disappoints me. Also, with Grasshopper's recent hiring of the Silent Hill guy, and Takada's absence from NMH2, does this mean he's not a part of the company any more?
