You said it, Electricden. Motown founder Berry gordy may have spearheaded the deception while Miss Montgomery (Terrell) was not in the best of health.

There's a growing consensus that Tammi was actually too ill to record this and most of the tracks that were on the 'Easy' album, and that it's actually Valerie Simpson 'impersonating' her here. And to rub salt into the wound the single was released the day of Tammi's funeral. It's because of this that Marvin refused to perform live OR release new material in 1970, and provides a background to his feelings when he came to record, 'What's Going On' in 1971.

I love Marvin and Tammi, but nonetheless Ashford & Simpson must have been smoking some heavy dope when they wrote this...

marvin and tammy were a great duet,so sad that she died so young, but her music lives on,along with they say the good die young, but they left behind classic sounds.
