Biography

The San Francisco soul rocker has been one of music’s best-kept secrets for some time now. His acclaimed 2000 album, The Calling, introduced the singer/guitarist and wowed critics with an eclectic sound that defies easy categorization. But while he has built a following as a live performer touring with the likes of The Roots and Jill Scott, he has remained an underground phenomenon. His newest work deserves to gain him far more attention, as he evokes thoughts of Sly Stone one minute and flies into something thoroughly original the next. No Place Like Home offers a tarnished view of a city better known for the Golden Gate Bridge. Lust burns with passion, while Ms. America simmers with anger at the nation’s ills. Truth or Dare, on the other hand, is devilishly seductive. Every bit of this music brims with soul.
