Marshmellow Overcoat - A Classic Rock-inspired band for today

Marshmellow Overcoat could be described as a band that above all else maintains the musical spirit of the 1960’s and 70’s, while keeping it relevant for today. Tyler Calkins and Dave Verbocy first performed as Marshmellow Overcoat in early 2008 after playing solo acoustic shows for some time. Months later the duo added drummer Anthony ‘Cav’ Cavallaro and began recording and performing full-time. They set out to keep the music they loved alive, and infuse the essence of the 60’s and 70’s in their own work. In the same vein as rock heroes like The Beatles and Neil Young, Marshmellow Overcoat is focused on making very solid albums with classic rock-style songwriting and musicianship. The band’s first album, “Dominique’s Garden and Brigade,” was released independently in late 2009.

After spending the first half of 2010 playing concerts throughout western PA and NY state, the band is getting ready to promote their second album, “On Safari,” which was recorded with veteran Nashville engineer Marc Frigo. The leadoff single, “Another Way To Hide,” clearly demonstrates the range of influences that can be found throughout the album. The members of Marshmellow Overcoat are determined to work for their success, with the focus always remaining on writing great songs and giving performances that give audiences what they want. At concerts, audiences can also expect to hear rollicking versions of many of their favorite classic and modern rock songs, bringing old favorites back to life and into today.

I never thought there would be 2 bands with this name, although the 80s band has slightly different spelling (Marshmallow vs. Marshmellow), thus averting a crisis.
