Biography

It all started at one party in the fall of 2008.

Piotrek and Jerry were listening to music and discussing a variety of bands. Piotrek, who'd been a crazy punk (guitar and vocals in Voldenberg) admitted that he's been attracted to quite different sounds lately. For a proof he decided to show Jerry (guitar in Bitter Sweet) what has been on his playlist lately - the sounds of Editors, The Killers, MGMT, Joy Division, Futureheads and many more came out of the spearkers. And that's how, with a bit of help from Łomża Eksport beer, Jerry got caught up.

As it usually happens in these kinds of situations, they decided to form a band. They quickly found a drummer. At one of an earlier parties Piotrek met a drummer without a band - quite a rare species. That lonely man was Maciek.

Not long after during a short, but quite substantial meeting in a pub, the guys raised their beer glasses for a toast to a forming of a new formation on the Warsaw scene and decided to play together.

Piotrek brought a few songs to the first rehearsal and the music of the unnamed band began to shape up. At first gloomy and raw as the sounds of Joy Division, but quickly evolved into a fusion of post-punk, indie and… disco. Everyone likes to dance from time to time.

At first the name of the band was quite pretentious - Disorder. It was a kind of a tribute to Joy Division and one of their best songs (which even until this day is quite often played during the "Worst covers of Joy Division" part of the rehearsals).

After a slight change in style, Piotrek, Maciek and Jerry were pondering regarding changing the name of the band. "Disorder" didn't quite fit and a few bans were already called that. At one point Piotrek sighed and said "there are poor chances that we will find a name" (poor chances = marne szanse). The guys looked at each other with sadness in their eyes and went back doing whatever they were doing. They didn't know then, that the stones started rolling.

That is how MARNE SZANSE were born.

As the time passed they managed to find a synthesizer player. Gniazdo is the most talented member of the band and thanks to him Marne Szanse have gained an electronic sound. The team became complete, concerts began, first recordings and successes. Gotta keep it up.
