Biography

Mark was born and raised in South Florida, of Lebanese extraction. His mother, a capable musician in her own right, was his first musical inspiration, but his considerable talent did not become fully apparent outside his family until high school. He attended one of the better schools in the region, and his already formidable abilities were probably nurtured there by a very competitive and capable group of musically-minded fellow students. Mark’s abilities on the guitar quickly progressed beyond those of his associates, and around this time he began to add his vocals to the mix. Initially, he was a “belter” and a lead guitarist in a series of local bands. After graduation, Mark attended the University of Alabama, which was followed by a series of extended gigs in a few locales across the country. During this period of his career, he networked with other songwriters and musicians, developed his singing chops (changing his style drastically as a result of an injury incurred from gigging too frequently), studied songwriting as a craft, and continued to write his own songs.

In 1994, while a resident of Colorado, he released his first album, _Rescue Me_, which was comprised of twelve tracks written by Mark with one exception in which he served as co-composer. _Rescue Me_ was probably intended to serve more as a demo for gigging purposes than an expression of Mark’s songwriting skill, but this would be remedied in the next project.
