Glasgow and Newcastle were shipbuilding towns and world famous for engineering excellence. As a child I'd lie in bed at night and listen to the foghorns. A breaking yard in India is a long way for beautiful Clyde-built ship to go to die. I read about such a place in a magazine and began to write So Far From The Clyde soon afterwards. Mark Knopfler, April 2009

  • Very nice!
  • Wow... yes, it is brothers-in-armesque. Same level of excellence, brilliant melody, fantastic arrangement and solo. So moving :')
  • Haunting music...I love Mr. Knopfler's storytelling in his music. Nice song...great guitar work. The other instruments accompanying this piece add a lot of "weight"; very nice.
  • ist nicht in Worte zu fassen... da stimmt alles!!!
  • That's no Rock-Song! It shouldn't come up here! Nearly felt asleep while litening to it.
  • This is one of Knopfler's best. Absolutely enthralling... As someone said below, comparable to Brothers in Arms, no doubt.
