Mario & Zelda Big Band Live is a recording of a live big band performance of songs based on the “Super Mario Bros.” and “The Legend of Zelda” game series. The performance was at Nippon Seinenkan Hall on September 14th, 2003. There were many artists who performed during this concert. The DVD recording of this event was bundled with the Japanese gaming magazine “Nintendo Dream” vol. 101.

The set consists of Nintendo game music arranged in various different styles, including blue grass, country, latin, and jazz. The best tracks from both afternoon and evening shows have been selected for the album. It includes performances by Nintendo game creator, Shigeru Miyamoto (Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda) and others.

The host, Ashura Benimaru Itoh, started off the concert with a guitar arrangement of the Super Mario Bros. “Main Theme” and “Underworld Theme”. The performances that followed were divided almost evenly between the Tokyo CubaBoys Jr. (The Big Band of Rogues) and Mr. Yoshihiro Arita (with his band).
