About this album

Electra Heart is the second studio album by Welsh recording artist Marina & the Diamonds. The concept album was released on 27 April 2012 by 679 Artists and Atlantic Records. Diamandis worked with several record producers on the album, including previous collaborators Liam Howe and Greg Kurstin, as well as Dr. Luke, Diplo and Stargate.
A pop and electronic album, Electra Heart represents a change in musical direction from the indie pop and new wave styles of Diamandis’s previous releases. Lyrically, the album deals with themes of love and identity. The song “Radioactive” was released as a promotional single on 23 September 2011. The album’s official lead single, “Primadonna”, was released on 20 March 2012. “Power & Control” and “How to Be a Heartbreaker” were released as the album’s second and third singles, respectively.

I prefer The Family Jewels and it's not because Electra Heart is more pop than TFJ. [2] It's still great though.

This album is just brilliant. Every song is about our dysfunctional beliefs and behaviors.

I prefer The Family Jewels and it's not because Electra Heart is more pop than TFJ. I love pop music, I love some pop albums that are considered "sell-outs" (No Doubt's "Rock Steady", Tegan and Sara's "Heartthrob", Nelly Furtado's "Loose"), I just don't connect with EH as I connect with TFJ... For me, TFJ sounds much more original and unique. I gave many chances to EH over the past three years and in my opinion, EH is just boring (I love "Lies", tho). You guys need to get over yourselves and accept different point of views, it's not the end of the world preferring an album or another... That's diversity. Diversity makes the world colorful. Like TFJ better doesn't make anyone a "hipster"; like EH better doesn't make anyone "poser" or anything. Just listen to the music you like and stop complaining!

Everyone who says this is shit can just get out. You may not like to but The Family Jewels era is over, Marina has said herself she will change sound with every album. Enjoy being stuck in the past.
