I was in the band marigold from Eugene that mogden is talking about.(we were actually from Springfield, but all moved to Eugene at some point) The name, even though they will say it was inspired by a picture of jakes sister holding a marigold, was in fact inspired by the nirvana song. The picture me and Jake found by pure coincidence and used it for the cover art of our first recording. We recorded in 1993; we released it on tape, and we copyrighted everything. I played with them for a few years, but then I got kicked out for paying too much attention to my other band. I was a freshman in high school, Jake a. (vocals, guitar) Travis f. (vocals, guitar) the original drummers name was scot, but we booted him after one or two practices. We then got a drummer named Nate. After i was kicked out, the new bass player was Adam. They were signed to DreamWorks around 97-98ish, and recorded an album in London. DreamWorks got bought out, and the record set on the shelf.

I don’t know if any of these bands are that old, but i would not worry about it. They are all cool guys and it’s a common name. I think i would have to sue anyway with them because I was on the original copyright, and I won’t:) anyway hope this helps clear some of this up.

For completeness' sake, add another Marigold to the list, one that's sounding a lot like the Chicago type of bands, etc. Their various demos are available for download: http://www.soundfabrik.net/music.php

I guess there might be three Bands! I was in a band called marigold 2003-2004. played all over the place! We were often compared to Braid. great times.. I have to say I love both of the newer marigolds. Audible to Animals is an amazing album! Our album is available for download on rapidshare. drop me a line if interested.

If there are really two different Marigolds, I'm going to have to 100% agree with Mossgalleon. I haven't even heard any of Audible to Animals but I'm three songs into Half Winter and I am in LOVE.
