Biography

Maria Barton lived on the South Coast of England near Chichester, West Sussex. The LP entitled “Rainful Days” was recorded for a small local label, ‘Airship’, around 1980.

She also released the albums “The Preacher And The Songwriter” [1980] on ‘Elysium’ and There’s Room For One More [1980] through CECS.

    i love this album so much. i managed to track down a friend of her brother who advised me she is alive and well in the south of france and the family has a whole stack of original copies of this album and they are working on a proper re-issue

    3 years later, and she now has 1,656 plays on Last.fm and 55 listeners. I guess this proves that if a super obscure album gets picked up by the right blogs, mentioned by WFMU, and reissued on CD in South Korea, it will become...slightly less obscure. "Rainful Days" is such an unassumingly inspiring song.
