    Marc Riley With The Creepers - Fancy Meeting God!

    The artist known on record as Marc Riley, Marc Riley With The Creepers, or The Creepers, but never Marc Riley & The Creepers (nearly always mis-named on the rare occasions I see his band getting a mention) brought out this intense slice of sarcy, awkward Mancunianism in 1985, halfway through their entertaining existence. Our Marc wasn't keen on the rampant hectorisation and stating of the bleedin' obvious from the contemporaneous likes of The Redskins and The Style Council, and I was well with him on this subject.

    "Marc's definition of sloganeering/Repeated message for the hard of hearing" - We Don't Say.

    Fancy Meeting God! was a Porky Prime Cut (see the run-out grooves of all the best British vinyl of the period). I have reason to believe that Porky was the young Phill Jupitus, at work in the pressing plant - another man of immensely good taste.

    This album came out on Marc's own label InTape - my favourite label of the period. …
