Marc Levy was born in Paris and grew up in the South of France where he started playing guitar at the age of nine. After his graduation in 1981 from the French Conservatory of Music in Paris, he pursued his musical education at Berklee Jazz School of Music in Boston where he graduated in composition and arrangement in 1983. The same year Marc moved to New York City, where he studies with ?Avant-Garde? Jazz Violinist Leroy Jenkins as well as with Jazz guitarists Mike Stern and John Scofield.

Major influences : Georges Duke, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, Kenny Baron, Chick Corea, Wes Montgomery, Mike Stern, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Joao Gilberto, Carlos Jobim, Gal Costa, Giberto Jill…

In 1984, Marc started working on his Jazz Brazilian project and created his first Band ?Foreign Exchange? who performed at the 7th avenue south in New York City.
