Marc Ford is best known as the lead guitar player for The Black Crowes on their Southern Harmony and Musical Companion-, Amorica- and Three Snakes and One Charm albums. But in his hiatus of the band recorded the solo album It’s About Time with a little help from befriended artists such as Ben Harper and Gov’t Mule. His second solo album, Weary and Wired was released on March 27th 2007.

In early August 2008, it was announced (via his record label) that Ford’s new record would be available online and in stores on September 23, 2008. Entitled Marc Ford And The Neptune Blues Club the record features entirely new material performed by the newest incarnation of Ford’s band (himself on guitars and vocals, Mike Malone on keyboards and vocals, Anthony Arvisu on drums, Bill Barrett on harmonica and John Bazz on upright bass).

Most recently Marc Ford has been playing lead guitar at the Vineyard Community Church in Laguna Niguel, California for Chris Lizotte, worship pastor and accomplished Christian recording artist. He is currently in post production of a Vineyard Music album.

As a musician, learning when to lay back always came naturally for Ford; his deliberate touch with a guitar is a trademark. His muted demeanor and detached gaze belie his tenacity, however, and Ford’s searing licks and soul-jarring solos are often compared to those of Hendrix, Clapton, Allman, and Page.

Sometimes you think you've lost your drive to be creative, then I watch Marc Ford play his solo on wiser times on the freak and roll DVD. What an inspiration from one of the most underrated guitarist of all time. I truly believe he was the soul behind the crowes. Look forward to hearing more from Marc in the future.

Now just discovering some of his solo music his playing is more obvious. With the seeming trend of guitar players flying up and down the fretboard in a vacuous pursuit of fitting ever more notes into one solo its so good to hear some one playing with some true feeling and soul.

Been listening to the 'Crowes for decades - can you believe I'm only just realising what a talent this guy is on guitar?? It's perhaps testament to the quality and how well blended he was into the Black Crowes 90's sound. Him and Rich fitted together so well - you didn't stop to think who was doing what - just enjoyed the great music :D
