You Suck / Crackhouse (The Tim Simenon Remixes)
Rude, crude, and something of a dancefloor smash, Consolidated's ultra-political output took a neat turn into sexual politics with this track, when they got The Yeastie Girls in to provide a rap detailing the delights of cunnilingus. Aside from it's headline-grabbing vocals, it's not hard to see why it became a dancefloor favourite - it's thumping beat is somewhat infectious...

Opening with the delicate melody of either violins or strings in The Chad Who Loved Me, it's clear from the start that mansun are not your typical Britpop band. Infact, the entire song itself is something that hasn't been heard on the track listing of a rock band in ages, if at all. After a sweet and rythmic introduction to the album, the vocals break out rather quietly, which merge nicely with the ongoing rhythm of guitar solo and drums.
"Do I feel love or just posession? Do I feel holy or nothing at all?"
Sung so clearly it's almost as if he's asking myself these questions. Quietly, the song ends in the manner that it began, with an undeniably loud sound effect of what appears to be either a baby, or as I previously thought, a cow.
The 2nd song starts immediately after the first, no pause inbetween, and sounds more electro than the first, great sounding all the same. It's undeniable that Paul has a unique voice in which you can understand every single word he sings.
27 Sep 2007, 07:06 by amodelofcontrolIt's time to delve into what is now some of the outer reaches of my music collection for this week's TT. Indeed, into a genre that I rarely buy anything from anymore - indie bands. And this one is in a slightly different format to usual, too - click on the Key Tracks links to find video links/track samples. Other suggestions for bands I may have missed welcome. So, here goes:
The mid-90s was not only a time of boorish, boozed-up "Cool Britannia" Britpop bands - it was also a time of seemingly limitless invention from some bands who might be considered to be a little more at the margins - but even so still notched up some respectable success.
Spiritualized: A band that had a brief moment in the full glare of the press, with the release of the extraordinary Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space - a staggering career peak that Jason Pierce (and whoever he has in his band this year) will never top in any number of lifetimes of trying. The rest of their catalogue - hardly bad - pales in comparison. …

1a) Oasis, a band I have been following off and on for 10 years now (it is certainly on again).
1b) Wonderwall, winter of '95, and I didn't even like it. Imagine that.
1c) This is a tough one, I have to dig for it. I have a feeling it's Morning Glory.
1d) The Importance of Being Idle because it perfectly describes my carelessness and apathy these days. Sweet.
2b) The Good In Everyone, summer of '96 (never looked back)
2c) The Good in Everyone, believe it. I listened to it repeatedly for hours. The Lines You Amend came soon afterward.
2d) Hmm, another toughy. Ill Placed Trust would be the most recent.
3b) Everybody's Changing, around the time they broke out in 2004. Just didn't grip me, never gave them a chance.
3c) Nothing in My Way, god it's so beautiful. I hate sharing it with the masses.
3d) Dirrtylicious !!!
